El Poble-sec is one of eight barris of the Sants-Montjuïc district and spans roughly 460.5 hectares (4.6 sq km) between Avinguda del Paraŀlel and Montjuïc. Official development of the area began in the 19th century and with every decade the neighborhood has seen a variety of changes in its inhabitants, food offerings, entertainment outlets and culture, with the old and the new standing side.

Where to stay in Barcelona
One of the best areas to visit in Barcelona is called El Poble-Sec. The reason being, well, it is home to Carrer de Blai aka Pinchos street. The long walking street is bordered by dozens of different pinchos bars, and most of them are quite good. You can come for lunch, and afternoon snack, or make a dinner out of it.

El Poblesec Meet Barcelona
Un barrio popular. Como barrio multicultural y obrero, el Poble-sec mantiene un carácter popular y una cultura variada que abre las puertas a todos aquellos que se quieran acercar a visitarlo. Sus arterias principales son la calle de Blai, que funciona como una pequeña rambla llena de bares y comercios por igual, y la plaza del Sortidor, donde tocaba en sus tiempos un joven Joan Manel Serrat.

Història. La costa del poble sec, com a port natural, fou emprada com a port de la ciutat per ibers i romans, i disposava d'una via d'accés a la ciutat. El port fou usat habitualment fins al segle x i esporàdicament fins al segle xiv. A principis del segle xiii ja es construïen vaixells extramurs entre el torrent de Cagadell i Montjuïc, en uns terrenys que Jaume el Conqueridor va prohibir.

We like Poble Sec because it is between the center and Montjuic. If you arrive before August 7th, you can decide to experience the Sala Montjuic Cinema. Així doncs, crec que el restaurant Quirat et sorprendrà i potser és l'inici de la segona revolta gastronòmica al Poble-sec, ja ho veurem.

Last but not least, Poble Sec is home to a number of little spots that escape categorization. The tagline at La Chana is 'Fried fish and rock'n'roll' and this goes a long way towards giving you an idea of what you might expect in this Andalusian-inspired tapas bar. Lascar 75 opened its doors at the end of 2014 and took no time at all at establishing itself as one of the hippest spots.
